When a Master Mechanic and a Metalsmith join forces magic happens. We are Caleb and Rachel married and metal-obsessed. We both love cars and working with fire! One day when Caleb was working on a car we joked tires are car jewelry then Rachel ran into the studio to get mold material and took a silicone mold of the tire and poof ...Old Town Tread was born.
Taking the mold into the studio, we poured wax into the mold and cast them in bronze. Each piece is slightly different due to the handmade process. The tire castings then get made into belt buckles, bolo ties and rings.
Made with a mold taken off a 1966 Mustang convertible! First we make the mold, then we pour a wax from that mold then cast ourselves in Bronze. All work and finishing done by us in Long Beach, CA!
